Do I have to be a Hamilton resident to belong to the Hamilton Area YMCA?
No, you do not have to reside in Hamilton to be a member.
Are there different types of Memberships?
Yes, there are three different types of membership – Program, Facility, and Facility Plus. For details on the benefits of each of these memberships, click on “Rates”.
What is the difference between Priority and Open Registration?
Priority takes place the week before Open Registration. Priority is an added benefit for our Facility and Facility Plus members only.
If my membership expires during the program session can I still go to class?
Membership must remain current throughout the duration of the program session. If your membership expires during the program session, you must renew at the time of registration.
Do I need a membership card to get into the facility?
Yes. It is very important for us to ensure that you have a safe and positive experience here at the Hamilton YMCA. Please remember to bring your YMCA ID or your Program Card with you each time you visit us. You may be denied access without your card. If you are a guest, you must present a current photo ID.
I am a member at another YMCA, can I use your facility?
As a current member at another YMCA, you are welcome at the Hamilton YMCA under our A.W.A.Y. program. You will receive 7 free visits per calendar year. After the 7th visit, you will be charged ½ the guest fee. You must bring your current YMCA membership ID card and sign in at our Membership Services Desk with every visit.
Do you offer Insurance Reimbursement for Membership dues?
Some insurance companies and HMO’s will reimburse participants for partial or all membership fees. We will be happy to verify your membership but will not bill the insurance company for fees due. If you need verification, we will gladly write a letter indicating your current membership status. Check with your insurance carrier for details.
What is the Joiner Fee?
All new Facility and Facility Plus members are charged a joiner fee, which is used to improve your YMCA in the future. The joiner fee is only charged once, unless a member allows his/her membership to lapse for more than 45 days, after which, the member will be charged the joiner fee upon reinstatement. Joiner fees are non-refundable.
Is the YMCA Smoke Free?
Because of our emphasis on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, smoking is not permitted on the YMCA campus, including our Cranbrook building and parking lots.
How can I pay my membership fees?
Membership fees are fixed at an annual (12 month) rate. Fees can be paid in full by cash, check or credit card (all of which is non-refundable), or you can sign up for the Bank Draft after paying an initial, non-refundable down payment.
How do I cancel my membership?
If you decide to leave the Hamilton Area YMCA you must come in to cancel your membership. If you have elected to pay your membership via Bank Draft, you must come in by the 10th of the month to avoid bank draft for that month.
How do I find out about times for classes or when programs are offered?
The Hamilton Area YMCA produces 4 program brochures throughout the year with class and program information that is mailed to current members as well as inserted into the Hamilton Post. You can also search our website for schedules.
As a Facility Member of the YMCA, can I use the Sawmill Facility?
Sawmill is part of the Hamilton Area YMCA. As a Facility Member you are able to utilize their facilities (schedules permitting) with the exception of the outdoor pool. The Sawmill summer pool membership is available for Facility Members at a discounted rate for the summer season.
At what age would I qualify for a Senior Membership?
Our senior membership is ages 62 and over. For the Senior Husband and Wife membership, both husband and wife must be over 62.
What is the All-Inclusive Land & Water Group Exercise Schedule?
This schedule is all of our group exercise classes that are available to Facility & Facility Plus members at no additional cost. It is available on our website under “Health & Well-Being” or you can pick up a copy at the Member Service Desk.
